Submission Process

REGISTER YOUR FILM

By filling out the online submission form

 You have to register your film first through the online film submissions form which is available at http://www.cfsbangladesh.org/submissions

This phase may require the following things:

  1. Your personal information including your short biography and filmography as the director.
  2. Detailed information of your film including the technical details, full cast and credit list etc.
  3. Synopsis of the film (150 words) both in English as well as in the original language i.e. generally Bangla.
  4. Photograph of the director.
  5. At least 3 still photographs from the film.

PACK YOUR DVD

After the registration, it’s time to prepare your DVD package

DVD Pack: Write the video file of the film in a DVD. You can write the video either in VOB format or in MPEG, MP4, AVI, MKV, MOV etc format.

Online Version of the Film: We also consider online submission/file sending for films to avoid inconveniences of money and time.

The following papers must be sent in the package:

  1. Xerox copy of your birth certificate, national ID card and passport. (At least any two documents proofing your age for the Child Filmmaker’s Section, Young Bangladeshi Filmmaker’s Section, Social Film Section)
  2. The consent letter with parent’s signature on it. (For the child filmmaker’s section)

The following materials are advised to enclose with the DVD:

  1. Posters in Hard Copy (if any)
  2. Banners in Hard Copy (if any)
  3. DVD Cover in Hard Copy (if any)
  4. Film trailer/teaser (if any)
  5. Making of the film/any other extra video (if any)

SEND THE PACKAGE

Once your package is ready, send it to us as soon as possible

  1. Do not forget to write down your Registration Code on the package.
  2. The package should be clearly mentioned that: “NO COMMERCIAL VALUE, FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY.”
  3. Then send the package to the address given below:

Rules and Eligibility

  1. Age limit: Any Bangladeshi children filmmaker up to 18 will be eligible for competition.
  2. Production time: The film that been produced after January 2015 is eligible to participate the competition.
  3. Story selection: There’s no such boundary for the selection of the story. But you have to consider that the story cannot be offensive towards the liberation war and the history of Bangladesh, and people from any ethnic group or race.
  4. Copyright and Authenticity: The idea, story, script and screenplay of your film have to be authentic, and cannot be imitated from any works of others. There must not be a violation of anyone’s copyright in the film.
  5. Privacy policy of the contents: The information, photos and footage used in the film can be used in different purposes probably in various publications or promotional materials by the festival authority.
  6. Privacy and permissions: There should have proper permissions from the people to be appeared on the screen, at least there should be a clearance of no offensive approach by people’s privacy.
  7. Credits: You must put on the credits of people or company or any entity that holds the copyright of anything you use in your film.
  8. Censorship issues: The entire film, as well as any part of it, cannot consist any content that hurts people from any racial and religious community, and contents that is not appropriate to be screened before the particular audience group of the festival who are aged below 18.
  1. Age limit: This is a section of special short films from Bangladesh made by young people aged between 19-25.
  2. Production time: The film that been produced after January 2015 is eligible to participate the competition.
  3. Story selection: There’s no such boundary for the selection of the story. But you have to consider that the story cannot be offensive towards the liberation war and the history of Bangladesh, and people from any ethnic group or race.
  4. Copyright and Authenticity: The idea, story, script and screenplay of your film have to be authentic, and cannot be imitated from any works of others. There must not be a violation of anyone’s copyright in the film.
  5. Privacy policy of the contents: The information, photos and footage used in the film can be used in different purposes probably in various publications or promotional materials by the festival authority.
  6. Privacy and permissions: There should have proper permissions from the people to be appeared on the screen, at least there should be a clearance of no offensive approach by people’s privacy.

  4. Copyright and Authenticity: The idea, story, script, and screenplay of your film have to be authentic, and cannot be imitated from any works of others. There must not be a violation of anyone’s copyright in the film.

  1. Film entry: There are two phase of submission. First is to entry your film through our website. Visit: www.cfsbangladesh.org/submissions
  2. Video file sending: After completing the entry form, you will get a registration number for your film. You must write that registration number on your DVD as well as on your package, and send it to our address.
  3. Sending cost: DVD copy of the film / films should be sent to the festival authority by sender’s cost. The return cost (if applicable) will be beared by the festival authority.
  4. Online file transfer issues: “Video file submission” also accepted through Google Drive / Vimeo / Dropbox / We Transfer etc. But the entry must be done online before that.
  5. Video format: All films will be shown in DVD / Blu Ray / Digital Hard drive format with English subtitles if the original language of the film is not Bengali or English. We do not accept 16mm or 35mm prints.
  6. DVD burning issues for the child filmmakers: We encourage you to burn your film in DVD format unless the video print is unharmed. If there is a possibility to fall the quality in DVD video format, you should burn them into a Data DVD in their original format like mpeg, mp4, avi, mov etc.
  7. Teaser and trailer: We encourage you to make short teaser, trailer, making of the film as well as any other additional video of your film. In that case, do not forget to send those videos as well as any other photos along with your film.
  8. Additional elements: You are welcome to send additional souvenir along with the DVD like poster, DVD cover etc. There is a possibility to showcase those things during the festival.
