On 04 March, the 3rd day of 12th International Children’s Film Festival began with the workshop of the renowned filmmaker Rubaiyat Hossain. Rubaiyat Hossain is an internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi director, writer, producer, and researcher.
Being a diehard fan of the great Satyajit Ray, she began the workshop by asking the most fundamental question about filmmaking, “What is the definition of a film?” “To make a film, you must know a lot, study a lot and watch a lot of films,” she said. “The most essential part of making a film is learning to ‘watch’.” She advised all the young makers to start small and grow big, gradually.
The third day of the festival also started with the joyous presence of a bunch of school kids from different schools. Around 11:00 am the main premise was filled with waves of laughter of kids from Viqarunnisa Noon School & College. Around 2:00 pm the whole venue was surrounded by kids of Nalanda School. They were roaming around the festival compound, watching movies, meeting our volunteers and delegates all with high energy.
Around 06:00 PM, a session was conducted by the director Piyush Chandrakant Panjuani, the maker of ‘5 Rupees’. Piyush Panjuani was a theatre actor before he started working as a director. He created 250 advertising films before.
Today almost 25 films were screened on Shawkat Osman Hall, Central Public Library and 40 more on three different venues. Another attraction of the festival was the child filmmakers section. Today 16 films from the child filmmakers section were screened. And the rest of the films will be screened at different venues on different days throughout the whole festival.
